Our four reproduced coverlets are woven in two halves and    hand seamed together just as they were in 1800's. We offer full, queen, and king sizes. Available in your choice of Bird and Bush, Eagle,  House, or Railroad patterns. Our coverlets are direct copies of local weavers from long ago.  Two unique features of these Jacquard coverlets is the ability to personalize the corner block with a customer's name, anniversary date, birth date, etc...and the ability to use either side.		shown above:  red, navy & Williamsburg blue Eagle pattern, 3 colors

"Homespun" Blankets

"Home-Spun"--Today, a very broad term widely misused.
Orignally meaning an undyed woolen yarn spun at home
and woven at home.  Yarn is coarse, rugged, and uneven;
woven as a plain weave only.  Most often woven as a
solid, stripe or simple check used by peasants and
country folk.

A True Early American Bed

An early American bed generally consisted of an underbed (a "mattress" stuffed
with straw) a woolen winter sheet for winter, or a linen sheet for summer.
Next is an overbed; in todays closest terms a duvet.  Average weight after
filled with down feathers was 12-15 lbs...comfy.  The overbed was four
 panels sewn together with bottom tie closures, and to top it off,
a decorative coverlet might be found.  An elongated bolster case had
two elongated matching pillow cases; the practice of the cases hanging
over the edges of the bed, helped keep the pillows in their place on top. 
Handstitched initials and laundry rotation numbers could be found
on the opening of the three cases.

 Angstadt #8 pattern, we've used the same yarns as the linen
 bedding line, so that everthing color coordinates.

Tobacco cloth is a lightweight, thin, loosely woven fabric with cotton in plain weave, similar to cheesecloth.  Used as shade covering for tobacco plants, crinoline, tea bags, bandages and curtains,etc.. Tobacco cloth is a very old fabric with a lot of whimsy.  Try hanging cloth on jute instead of a rod.  A great primitive look.
